Ella de Jongh

British soprano Ella de Jongh is a recent graduate of the prestigious Opera Course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and continues to study under the tutelage of Professor Janice Chapman and coach Michael Pugh. Notable recent engagements involve three seasons with Garsington Opera, The Gingerbread Witch Hansel & Gretel with Opera Holland Park Young Artists, covering Wellgunde and Third Norn in Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen at Longborough Festival Opera, opening the McDonalds UK Franchisee Annual Gala in Lisbon, Contessa Almaviva Le nozze di Figaro and Die Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier with Saffron Opera. In 2025, Ella is looking forward to singing her first Valkyrie. Ortlinde, in Wagner's Die Walküre with Regents Opera.

Alongside her classical and operatic performing career, Ella enjoys teaching all genres of music and seeks a great deal of pleasure from her students making progress, developing vocally and emotionally. She approaches teaching in a holistic manner, with her teaching firmly science-based, and believes in creating a sound and stable technical base through personalised exercises and detailed pedagogical work. It is very important to her that she clearly communicates how the voice works, why exercises are given and which areas of the technique they address.
